our weekday routines.

I love reading about what other moms do throughout the day. About two months ago I posted what our day looks like in pictures but here is a more detailed version of our daily routine.  My personality is one that I need everything planned for ahead of time and I thrive off of order, even though with kids that is almost never possible.  Calvin just turned 3 and Max is now 10 months old so our days are consistently pretty similar but with some variation. I do always love when God surprises me with something spontaneous, the boys love it too.

Monday-Fridays with the Davis Boys

6:30 AM- Calvin and Max wake up. I  usually nurse Max in our room and then head out to the living room where Calvin is usually helping my mom get ready for work.

7:00 AM- Make coffee and get Calvin's breakfast ready. Calvin and Max play and I let Calvin watch a show. I also use this time to empty out the dish washer and also help prepare Nick's lunch and start on my breakfast.

7:30-8:00 AM- Max eats breakfast and I clean up Calvin and any dishes.

8:00 AM- We say goodbye to Nick as he leaves for work and then I usually make my bed, start a load of laundry, and get Calvin and Max dressed for the day.

8:00- 9:00 AM- The boys play, we read books, go over our memory verse for the day and usually Facetime family members. During this time I will usually start dinner and pack diaper bags for the day if we are going somewhere.

9:15 AM- Max goes down for a nap. Calvin and I usually use this time to do stuff we can't do with Max around and if I don't go to the gym then I also will shower. We like to play outside, garden, have a play date at our house, bake and play with our 'special' toys aka small stuff.

10:30 AM- Max is usually up from his nap and I nurse him again. If I am going to the gym we leave right away so I can make sure we are back in time for lunch and Calvin's nap. On non-gym days we use this time for errands, go to the museum, play outside, visit my Nunna, or some other type of adventure.

11:30 AM- I prepare the boys lunches while they play and during this time I will answer emails and usually catch up on reading a devotional/scripture and read any blogs I follow.

12:00 PM - Clean up from lunch (this is usually a big task for me because both boys are pretty messy eaters).

12:30 PM- If I haven'y already showered I will do it at this time and then the boys and I read and play in Calvin's room

1:00 PM - Calvin gets ready for his nap and I nurse Max and we clean up our toys from the morning,

1:30 PM - Max goes down for his nap. I use this time to get the mail, emails, finish/start dinner, read, blog, exercise, watch TV. Basically, this is the golden hour to do whatever I need/want to do before the long haul until dinner. This time is truly where I can reflect on life and where I can gather my thoughts.

2:30/3:00 PM- Calvin wakes up from his nap and I give him his snack while he wakes up (he takes a while).  Max wakes up shortly after and will have his snack and then nurse again.

3:00- 4:00 PM- During this time we will either stay home and play outside, do errands or go somewhere.  I will also do chores and put laundry away while the boys play.

4:30 PM- I start to prepare dinner while the boys play and Nick comes home from work. Nick will take care of the boys until supper is finished.

5:30 PM- We eat dinner as a family and talk about our day. This is sometimes a chaotic but fun time because everyone is tired from the day.

6:00 PM- Nick starts the boys bath while I clean the dishes up from dinner.

6:30 PM - I help Nick get the boys ready for bed and we spend some family time together,

6:45 PM - Max and I read books, nurse and Max is in bed.

7:00 - 7:30 PM - Calvin and Nick spend time together and then Calvin watches a show before bed.

7:30 -8:00 PM- Nick and Calvin read books, pray, and Calvin is in bed. If I need to do any errands that I don't do with the boys I use will go to the grocery store.

8:00 -10:00 PM- Nick and I have alone time. Some nights we watch our favorite shows or we go on a date, read, have friends over, spend time with my family. It's a part of the day we look forward to because we have the ability to do anything we can't do when the boys are up.

4:00/5:00 AM- Max usually wakes up to nurse for a minute and then goes back to sleep until 6:30 AM.

So, there you have it. Each day is a little different but there is a general flow we always follow. I don't make my family be slaves to a routine but it does work well for us to know what to  expect each day.
